Collecting modern and contemporary design has become one of the most dynamic, influential, and intriguing territories in the international marketplace. While initially fueled by the fine arts market, collecting design has emerged as a discipline in its own right. The market has become a global barometer of trend forecasting, signifying the language, directions, and taste of our time. Collecting design has come forward as a source of trend forecasting, generating market reports, art fairs, museum exhibitions, research projects, scholarship, monographs, and endless headlines. Collecting design inspires scholarly analysis, art fairs, museum exhibitions, and monographs, and was cited recently by the Wall Street Journal as a lucrative avenue of investment.

This unique program is presented in partnership with design historian Dr. Daniella Ohad, and seeks to bring together architects, interior designers, design lovers, and art collectors in a conversation about the field. This six-session series focuses on various themes which have a central place in the collectible design world, with a strong focus on the history of modern design and the story of contemporary design. The program will feature in-person lectures and conversations with some of the world’s leading experts, in addition to two groups visits to the Park Avenue Armory and at Sotheby’s New York.
