Over 13,000 flattened aluminum cans decorate the facade in a beadwork pattern for Dutch fashion label Daily Paper’s inaugural shop in the United States in Manhattan, New York. The two-story Daily Paper store spans 1,140 square feet and occupies a prominent corner building in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The architects subtly incorporated references to the store founders Dutch and African origins in the design. The concept incorporates Africas artistic recycling and creates a gathering place and nod to Afrofuturism in traditional museum style with a contemporary twist. The gables and undulating ceilings emulate the form of those seen on traditional Dutch townhouses.
