A panel of experts presents an overview of New Urbanism, the cutting-edge urban design canon that is creating better places to live.

Jeff Speck is the author of the bestselling city planning book of the past decade, Walkable City. He is also the leader of an award-winning urban planning firm. Joining him for a discussion on high-quality urban planning are Shelley Poticha, Chief Climate Strategist of the Natural Resource Defense Council, and Marc Wouters of the award-winning Marc Wouters Studios in Brooklyn.

The event includes discussion of Battery Park City, one of the most successful examples of New Urbanism in the NY area. Topics to be discussed by the panel include historic preservation, the creation of social equity in communities, methods to address climate change, and sustainable transportation.

This program is presented by the National Arts Club in partnership with the Congress for the New Urbanism NYS chapter.
